SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – A3102 SWINDON ROAD
This Order is made to allow contractors to carry out works to enable widening of the A3102
Swindon Road as part of the M4 Junction 16 Improvement Scheme and will prohibit vehicles
from proceeding on the A3102 Swindon Road from Spittleborough Roundabout to the next
roundabout towards Wootton Bassett Road overnight from 20:00 hours to 06:00 hours only.
(Access to be maintained to properties in the above closed section)
Traffic will be diverted via A3102 (Royal Wootton Bassett), A3012 to Lyneham, continue along
A3012 (Goatacre), A3012 (Hilmarton), A3012 (Calne), Curzon Street (Calne), New Road
(Calne), London Road (Calne), Quemerford (Calne), A4 through Cherhill, A4 to Beckhampton,
A4 to West Kennett, A4 to Fyfield, A4 to Marlborough, Bath Road and High Street
(Marlborough),Oxford Road (Marlborough), New Road (Marlborough), A346, A346 Herd Street,
A346 Port Hill, A346 to Ogbourne, A346 (Chiseldon), A346 to Commonhead Roundabout), at
Commonhead Roundabout go straight towards Marlborough Road, A419 to A420 Merlin Way,
At Gablecross Roundabout turn into A4312 Oxford Road, continue along the A4312 to Drakes
Way, turn right into A4312 Queens Drive, at Magic Roundabout turn into A4289 County Road
to Transfer Bridges, from Transfer Bridges turn left onto the B4289 Great Western Way, the
B4289 Great Western Way , B4006 Great Western Way and A3012 Great Western Way and
vice versa.
The Order will come into force on the 23 October 2017 for 6 months. The revised dates for the
closures are from the 13 to 24 November 2017.
